Job Description

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to support our team in Japan. This role partners closely with leadership to shape people strategy, lead core HR operations, and build a strong, scalable employee experience in a bilingual environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HR operations including employee relations, policy development, compliance, and HR process improvement

  • Advise leaders on Japanese labor law requirements

  • Drive talent planning, workforce development, and team capability building

  • Manage onboarding, relocation support, and visa processes

  • Support culture development and employee engagement initiatives

  • Lead and mentor a small HR team

  • Partner across bilingual stakeholders and functions

Requirements

  • Business-level Japanese and English (read, write, speak)

  • Strong knowledge of Japanese labor law and HR compliance

  • Experience in employee relations, policies, and HR advisory

  • Experience in small to mid-sized scale-up or fast-changing environments

  • Experience working in bilingual workplaces in Japan

  • Team leadership experience

  • Experience with onboarding, relocation, and immigration processes

Nice to Have

  • HRIS experience

  • HR data and metrics familiarity

  • Experience in creative, tech, or entertainment industries

Base Salary

  • Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
